Version 0.9.3


Update time! No huge changes for this version, see the change log below. I’ve working on pre-gens for each Calling, along with specific GM Guidance for each Calling, but I didn’t want to hold off on these changes for however long that’ll take me.

Thanks to several people on discord (in the Cairn server and elsewhere), here, and elsewhere who’ve been giving me fantastic feedback on the game. Not all of what’s been brought to my attention has been fixed yet, but I’m keeping it in mind! I swear!

In other news I did a “test print” of a few copies of Brighter Worlds, mainly to have physical copies handy for when I get to run games in person, but sadly messed up the order and all the spreads are offset by one page. At least the covers look nice!

Changelog

  • Great Soul Shaman renamed to Soulbearer (thanks Evlyn) and features new artwork (thanks again Evlyn).
  • Tweaked character creation to avoid there being an “optimal” choice.
    • Now you write a Eulogy entry immediately and either get an extra equipment roll, or +1 XP to start the game.
  • Tweaked the Devoted’s Living Legend advanced ability to make it more immediately usable.
  • Added the Reflexive Invisibility ritual, it replaces the Bone Sense ritual (which I hate so much and regret writing).
  • All Callings now start with 3 Grit across the board. Not enough utility in making it variable to be worth it. Makes things easier to just start with one number.
  • Added some items to some of the Callings to make the “You Start With” sections look less empty with the lack of Grit listed.
  • Tweaked the Archivist’s “Leap of Logic” ability so it works more in line with Deep Lore.
  • Added “Environmental Damage” to the GM Guidance chapter. This whole chapter needs to be organized/expanded.
  • Re-added dual wielding rules which I just accidentally removed when I changed how simultaneous attacks works. Whoops!

Awesome! Excited to see some updates 💖🙌!

I remember when I made a booklet of it I ended up removing some pages to make the pages lay out properly. Can't remember which ones though.

I'll have to read though this again.

Cool to hear from someone that’s seen the game at different stages of writing!

And yeah, not much consideration is given to making the layout printer friendly yet.
