SRD Issues + Progress Towards Beta

Hi All,

It’s been a while since the last update, sorry about that!

First order of business, I’m trying to shift registrar and hosting for the online SRD at www.brighterworldsrpg.com, and it’s currently down because it turns out I barely understand how computers work.

I should hopefully have the site back up soon, but in the mean time, you can still access the SRD here: https://brighterworldsrpg.onrender.com/.

I’ve also been working on a significant update that will bring Brighter Worlds to “feature complete”. This partially involved actually finishing things, and partially involved cutting ideas that ended up being too much. I was hoping to have the WIP beta live on a separate SRD which is, in part, what caused me to break the whole website. Whoops.

What you can look forward to in the next version:

  • An intro adventure, plus an example of play which follows a full playthrough of that adventure.
  • Reformatting/reorganization of Callings to make them more consistent.
  • Streamlined character creation + Grit derivation that balances Attribute importance.

If anyone that’s been running Brighter Worlds would like to take a peek at the next version and give feedback, let me know. Otherwise I should be able to fix hosting and get it up for everyone in the near future.

Thanks, David

it turns out I barely understand how computers work.

i work with computers for a living and i barely understand how computers work 🤣

i’d be super stoked to take a peek at the upcoming beta and give it a test play

I also do a fair amount of computer stuff as my day job, which makes this all the more embarrassing.

Anyway, current beta rules are here: https://brighter-worlds-dev-branch.onrender.com/

Caveats: I’m actively working on it so there’s unfinished and mid edit stuff scattered around, as well as some big missing sections. Also the changelog on the front page is very much not comprehensive.

All that being said I’m always happy to get feedback on stuff. I sometimes worry I’m “over-fitting” to a limited amount of testing.
